Of Beetles and Angels by Mawi Asegdom
(CD26)

Of Beetles and Angels is the autobiographical account of one boy’s perilous journey from war-torn Ethiopia to a refugee camp in the Sudan and finally to the United States. Taking its title from his father’s advice to “treat all people—even those whom others may consider to be like unsightly beetles—as if they were angels sent from heaven,” the book is written by Mawi Asegdom, the Eritrean-Ethiopian motivational speaker and educator who delivered the keynote address at ECDC’s 2006 nationa conference.
